Fuel Tech’s DGI® dissolved gas infusion system doses oxygen into water and wastewater with high transfer efficiency. In addition, DGI combines the industry’s best oxygen transfer efficiency with unparalleled precision, delivering an energy-efficient and cost-effective solution for water and wastewater treatment. Leveraging cutting-edge technology, DGI achieves gas transfer rates exceeding 99% by pre-dissolving high-purity gas in a pressurized slipstream. As a result, this slipstream can reach oxygen concentrations up to 900mg/l, and DGI then dilutes it precisely into the main water volume to meet exact specifications. To guarantee optimal oxygen saturation, DGI uses specially designed high-velocity channel injectors that maximize gas retention and optimize distribution. Whether as a rapid-response solution or to enhance legacy systems, DGI is versatile enough to improve performance across a broad spectrum of water and wastewater treatment applications.

How does DGI technology achieve such high oxygen transfer efficiency?
DGI dramatically increases the rate of dissolved oxygen introduced into the water treatment process by using a pressure vessel. The system pre-dissolves high-purity oxygen in a pressurized slipstream, reaching concentrations of over 900mg/l oxygen. DGI then returns the oxygen-rich slipstream to the main volume of water at a 95% saturation rate and discharges it through specially designed high-velocity channel injectors.
These injectors maintain DO levels and ensure optimal distribution, making DGI suitable for use in shorter water columns. Integrated sensors within the treatment zones can then automatically regulate DO concentrations, ensuring consistent levels throughout the process. With its rapid deployment capabilities and scalability, Fuel Tech customizes the DGI system to meet the oxygen demands of a wide range of applications, with capacities ranging from 10 to 10,000lbs of oxygen per day.
Independently verified as delivering the highest oxygen dosage rates
Fuel Tech tested the DGI oxygenation system using a modified version of the Measurement of Oxygen Transfer in Clean Water standard published by the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE/EWRI 2-06). The test results demonstrated that more than 99% of the oxygen introduced remained available for critical process requirements, including biological digestion and chemical reactions. Two independent industry experts peer-reviewed and validated these results.
Customizing DGI to meet specific requirements
The DGI oxygenation system delivers dosing rates that surpass those of conventional aeration technologies, offering enhanced treatment performance and faster response times. Fuel Tech’s experienced product and process engineering team specializes in providing custom-designed solutions tailored to the specific needs of your water and wastewater treatment applications. We consider factors such as target dissolved oxygen levels, treatment duration, the reduction of contaminants, and seasonal fluctuations, to develop an optimal solution.
