Over the last 40 years, our innovative technologies have been delivering solutions that maximize outcomes for our customers in a cost-effective and environmentally sustainable manner. Our suite of services provide ongoing support and maintenance to ensure technologies continue to perform at their best.
A broad portfolio of innovative environmental solutions.
Fuel Tech develops proprietary technologies that control air pollution, support cleaner energy, and improve water treatment. In addition, these environmental solutions have served customers for more than 40 years. They maximize outcomes in a cost-effective and sustainable way. We also support and maintain the equipment so it keeps performing at its best.
Air Pollution Control
Fuel Tech is a global leader in air pollution control, with over 2,100 installations worldwide. These sites process coal, fuel oil, natural gas, municipal waste, biomass, and other fuel and waste streams. Our post-combustion NOx technologies include NOxOUT® and HERT™ SNCR, Rich Reagent Injection (RRI), ASCR® Advanced SCR, and Industrial SCR. When needed, we combine these as an I-NOx® Integrated NOx Control system.
For particulate control, we apply ESP technology in rebuilds and retrofits to meet regulatory limits. In addition, Flue Gas Conditioning can modify fly ash so ESPs collect it more effectively, using sulfur trioxide and ammonia reagent systems. Our ULTRA® process uses safe urea to generate ammonia onsite for SCR and FGC. Redox additives also help cut mercury, arsenic, and selenium in utility wastewater where wet FGD scrubbers are used.
Chemical Technologies
TIFI® Targeted In-Furnace Injection uses custom chemical injection and dosing to prevent slag and corrosion in boilers and furnaces. TIFI uses fluid-dynamics modeling and virtual-reality simulation to predict the path of injected chemicals. As a result, coverage of the targeted zones approaches 100%.
TIFI dosing improves efficiency, reliability, fuel flexibility, and environmental performance. These programs control slagging, fouling, corrosion, opacity, SO3, ammonium bisulfate, PM2.5, and CO2. We apply this technology on units that process coal, heavy oil, biomass, and municipal waste.
Water Treatment
DGI® Dissolved Gas Infusion is an alternative to conventional aeration. DGI uses two technologies together. First, a patented pressurized saturator transfers gas into a water slipstream. Then a patent-pending delivery system distributes that oxygenated slipstream and cuts gas loss from the reservoir.
DGI benefits include precise dissolved-oxygen control, added plant capacity without a major build-out, fewer in-basin connections, less maintenance, lower odor, and fewer bubbles. Therefore, it fits aquaculture, pulp and paper, food and beverage, landfill leachate, chemical plants, water and wastewater treatment, agriculture, irrigation, and natural waters.
Parts & Services
We also offer boiler testing and SCR management, including ammonia injection grid tuning and SCR troubleshooting. In addition, we deploy flow devices such as static mixers and the GSG™ Graduated Straightening Grid. These improve flue-gas distribution and mixing in power and industrial plants.
