Our suite of services provide ongoing support and maintenance to ensure technologies continue to perform at their best.
A broad portfolio of innovative environmental solutions.
Fuel Tech develops and commercializes state-of-the-art proprietary technologies that help control air pollution, support the generation of cleaner energy, and promote the efficiency of water and wastewater treatment processes.
Air Pollution Control
Fuel Tech is a global leader in air pollution control, with over 2,100 installations worldwide where coal, fuel oil, natural gas, municipal waste, biomass and other fuel and waste streams are processed. Our post-combustion nitrogen oxide (NOx) reduction technologies include NOxOUT® and HERT™ Selective Non-Catalytic Reduction (SNCR) and Rich Reagent Injection (RRI) systems, along with ASCR® Advanced Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) and Industrial SCR systems. These technologies can be combined as part of an I-NOX® Integrated NOx Control system.
For particulate control, Electrostatic Precipitator (ESP) technologies can be applied in both rebuild and retrofit installations to ensure regulatory compliance. In addition, Flue Gas Conditioning (FGC) technology can modify fly ash properties for collection by ESPs using sulfur trioxide and ammonia reagent systems. Our ULTRA® ammonia generation process technology uses safe urea reagent to generate ammonia onsite for SCR and FGC applications.
Our Redox additives help mitigate mercury, arsenic and selenium from utility plant wastewater where wet flue gas desulfurization (FGD) scrubber technologies are used for air pollution control.
Chemical Technologies
The company’s TIFI® Targeted In-Furnace Injection™ technology utilizes custom-designed chemical injection and dosing programs that prevent slag build-up and corrosion in boilers and furnaces. TIFI uses fluid dynamics modelling coupled with virtual reality simulations to predict the precise trajectory of injected chemicals. This helps ensure as close to 100% coverage of the targeted zones as possible.
Chemical dosing using TIFI improves the efficiency, reliability, fuel flexibility and environmental status of combustion units. These programs control slagging, fouling, corrosion, opacity and the formation of sulfur trioxide, ammonium bisulfate (ABS), particulate matter (PM2.5), as well as carbon dioxide (CO2). This technology is applied to units where coal, heavy oil, biomass, and municipal waste are processed.
Water Treatment
Fuel Tech’s DGI® Dissolved Gas Infusion technology is an innovative alternative to current aeration technologies. DGI uses two key technologies in combination to ensure optimal gas delivery to target water and wastewater process applications: a patented next generation pressurized saturator for gas transfer to a slipstream of water; and a patent-pending delivery system to distribute an oxygenated slipstream of water that virtually eliminates gas loss from the targeted reservoir.
DGI benefits include precise control of dissolved oxygen levels, extension of plant capacity without major expansion or capital outlay, minimization of in-basin connections and maintenance, odor reduction, and minimization of bubble formation. This superior oxygen transfer technology has applications in aquaculture, pulp and paper, food and beverage, landfill leachate, chemical and petrochemical, water and wastewater treatment, agriculture and irrigation, and reservoirs and natural waters.
Parts & Services
We also offer a range of services, including boiler testing and selective catalytic reduction (SCR) management, which includes ammonia injection grid tuning and SCR system trouble shooting. This is in addition to deployment of flow corrective devices such as static mixers and our GSG™ Graduated Straightening Grid to help optimize flue gas distribution and mixing in both power plant and industrial applications.
