FUEL CHEM® Fireside Fouling/Slag Control

Fuel Tech has a number of fouling and slag control agents to prevent the adverse effects of fuel contaminants such as sulfur, sodium, calcium, vanadium, potassium and zinc. Certain FUEL CHEM® products have an affinity for inhibiting the highly reflective deposits that minimize heat transfer and reduce boiler efficiency. FUEL CHEM programs, such as our proprietary magnesium-based slurries, are suited toward high slagging or highly corrosive fuels, and minimize their effects through physical and chemical modification of the ash. These products may be added directly in-fuel for boilers burning #6 fuel oil. However, the efficiency of the magnesium slurries as part of a TIFI™ Targeted In-Furnace Injection™ program is truly remarkable. Further, the use of Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) modeling allows us to attack a specific problem area or offer a comprehensive injection scenario.
