FUEL CHEM® Combustion Catalysts

FUEL CHEM® markets a line of catalyst-bearing products for the combustion process. Calcium nitrate, iron, and copper based catalysts are available. Catalysts work by producing a cleaner burn with lower carbon particulate (lower LOI), reduced NOx and CO emissions and lower excess O2. When combined with lower operating excess O2, catalysts can help control SO3 formation that prompts cold-end metal attack or acid plume. A combustion catalyst can be metered in-oil, or used as a component of a FUEL CHEM TIFI Targeted In-Furnace Injection program. In the latter instance, a Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) model is used to target catalyst injection to a section of the combustion zone where its catalytic properties are most beneficial.
